1.How did thinking in terms of shots and scenes influence your approach to communicating your design concept?

When we determine our product prototype. We will think about what we want to convey the characteristics of the product. According to product characteristics to design the shooting scene. The persona added to the scene to better convey the design concept.

2. What motivated your choice of storyline structure? Can you think of an exemplar from a film that uses the same structure?

I think of these scenarios through real life scenes. But I will put these scenarios designed to be more exaggerated, makes it easier to understand. Also more prominent features.

3.What choices did you make about audience and style? Were they related?

We have a choice of style and structure. These are real. And a close-up shot of the product.Style and rhythm should be consistent.

What kinds of information and insights did it give you about the usability of the prototype?

When I play a test user,I am faced with a strange site that finds the location upon request.I have to keep saying.  pay attention into the test. This is a challenge for me. I often forget what I’m going to do.

When I play a evaluator. I will pay more attention to the tester’s facial expressions.Through the facial expressions to observe his satisfaction with the web page.I can watch the expression slowly through the video.

2.What aspects of the technique worked well or were frustrating?

As evaluator,It is easiest to observe the tester through facial expressions. But Some expressions can not be accurately judged.

1.How did physically acting out help to explore ideas?

This exercise we chose the sence that is  ‘sleeping in atrplanes’. We simulated the situation which is sleeping in the plane. In this process, we imagine some things that might happen during sleep, such as some people who kick chair, the effect of light on sleep. So we can get inspiration to solve these problems.

2.Did you refine your ideas and solutions to the problem through bodystorming? In what way?

We propose a solution to the problem one by one. Mainly on the seat of the improvement. For example, we increased the seat vibration damping system,  increase an function of the height adjust . This will facilitate the inside people to go to the toilet, and will not disturb the outside people.

3.What was difficult or challenging about bodystorming?

During the experience we must have a rich imagination. We want to imagine as much as possible the situation may occur. We want to present a realistic solution to the problem. In this exercise, we have to consider the aircraft space and other issues.

Does bodystorming lend itself to certain types of problems?

Bodystorming is suitable to solve some of the scenarios that can be simulated. Some relatively large space, but some small scenes difficult to experience.

How did taking the position of an Extreme User influence your thinking in relation to the design challenge?

Created a  extreme user is a challenge for imagination. We needed to do comprehensive in the Extreme user. When we designed for the Extreme user, I need to think even more.

Our group chose the romantics and I created to be a extreme user, who like flowers. She eat flowers. She use flowers to take shower. So I try to design a device to help her. During this process, I would think about how to satisfy her needs.

2.Did any of the other design thinking techniques (design provocation cards, stories, storyboards etc.) help you to work through ideas and collaborate with your group members?

Storyboard can Storyboard technique can help us sort out the logic of the story. Easy to show the story to others.

Tutorial 04 – xnan0177-Empathy & Defamiliarisation

Briefly reflect on the lessons learnt from each exercise
(1)Reflective listening

Through the exercise, I think that I am a good listener. And, I need to improve my speaking skill. I should mind the sequence of my talk in every topic. I should catch key points when I talk with my listener . In another hand, as a listener, we need to give the speaker a good respond, make a eye contact.

(2) Defamiliarisation of everyday reality

In watching These videos, I tried to think about what is my feeling in my hart. And, try to think about where my physical sensations were mostlylocated during imagining myself in the bus station and train station. Through this exercise , I would feel that I have empathy with user.

(3)Empathetic Modelling:

In this exercise, We were using plastic wrap to encase the glasses and phone camera . Vision change to unsharp. In a few minutes, I open my eyes wide but I can’t saw anything . And then,I try to use my others sense.
