IDEA9106 Design Thinking

Design is a state of mind

Blog reflection 04

1. Reflective listening

In this part of tutorial I was concentrating one the audio and video. Taking notes on all the actions that are done in the visuals. It was a good exercise to improve listening skills.

2. Defamiliarising of everyday reality

Being in a situation and feeling what it feels like is a good idea. I learned a lot noting the things down and mapping things on a body and reflecting thoughts.
3. Empathic modelling
This is a good excercise of being in a person situation and getting an idea of how it feels and generate new ideas for the problem we are dealing with.

Blog reflection 03

1.Describe your experience of creating personas from different users’ perspectives gathered in the interview data. Was there enough commonality between the 4 people interviewed to form a coherent persona? Or did it make more sense to create a second different persona?

The experience in creating personas was excellent thinking in different perspectives made me understand what it means exactly. There is not much commanality because of data availability between only four people, but we thought that disimilarity is also a kind of similarity and created personas regarding that as well. I felt that it makes more sense if there is more data available so that it helps in creating different personas and that reflects in designing the product.

2.Do you think your final persona(s) was successful in generating empathy with users? What would you change to make it better?

I think that final personas were successfully generated empathy with users, it would been better if there is more data and more variables. So that we can create more number of personas in different perspectives.

  1.  How did this exercise help you build empathy with prospective users?

By organising things in a way that each has the link we can easily track the activities and that helps in looking for the same. Had a good experience doing this activity.

  1.  How did the clustering of information help you to understand user needs?

Major observation when we write down things in this way is the link between all the activities, tracking them using the links.

  2.  What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?

It was difficult to track all the activities for the first time. In the future activities I would definitely concentrate on all the leaf activities and build the tree which can make more sense.

  1. How is this sketchnoting technique different to the traditional note-taking?

Sketch noting will make a difference when you look back at the things you wrote and drawn. You can get an overall picture easily and get into the context directly without noise.

  2. How does this visual approach facilitate communication of your ideas? Conversely, how does it prevent it?

In terms of communication, it actually depends on people’s perspective. It can be difficult to some or easy to some.

  3. Personal challenges as a sketch noter.

At the start, I felt difficult to manage sketching things. As practice makes man perfect I look forward to improve myself.
