1) How did physically acting out help to explore ideas?
Physically acting helped me to identify the issue in a more real way. For instance, our topic is sleeping in the airplane. By organizing the chairs, we explore the spatial logic to simulate the condition in reality. It gave us a more detailed observation on the issues that we may not noticed before.
2)Did you refine your ideas and solutions to the problems through bodystorming? In what way?
We firstly brainstormed different situations then act them out. But actually when we truely act them out, we popped up more thinking in terms of irregular situations.
We’ve thought of few different conditions on the airplane, some of them have funny solutions, some of them are not.
3)What was difficult or challenging about bodystorming?
One of the challenging things in body storming is that we cannot 100% recover the reality. Foe example, we identify the issues on chair back height, however, the chair in studio room is a standard chair, we can only pretend we are not comfortable with the chair back.
Another issue is some of the conditions are quite embarrassing to act out such as baby crying. We can only act some significant conditions such as people cross over you.
4)Does bodystorming lend itself to certain types of problems?
It sometimes works, not every time. Through our experiments, body storming can gave us more ideas on spacial relationships, but it can’t recover the reality, so some of the feedbacks are not that accurate.
