1. What kinds of information and insights did it give you about the usability of the prototype?

As a recorder, I can understand what parts of the website have design problems or make participant feel uncomfortable by observing participant’s verbal and nonverbal behaviors when her performing the task.  Together with “thing out loud”, participant points out what she confused and what she liked on certain points, and as a designer, I will receive accurate feedback on certain function.

  1. What aspect of the technique worked well or were frustrating?

Facial expression is very easy to be observed. Participant always furrowed brow when she encountered some difficulties, and become impatience when she rubbed head. Together with some verbal feedback, like “It doesn’t work”, I can record some key feedback. However, sometimes, participant may have some misunderstanding about some specific operations, such as don’t know how to choose collect or delivery of the product, and she go back to the homepage to find store location, it costs lots of time.
