1) How did physically acting out help to explore ideas?

It helps me immerge myself into the real situation, and when my partner says ” freeze” or something like that, our group members will try hard to think out tangible solutions to help us solve the problems and refine our design thinking.

2) Did you refine your ideas and solutions to the problem through body-storming? In what way?

Yes,we did. By body-storming, we immerged ourselves into the real situation and imagined us as the roles the doctor waiting room or the air companies might need.In this way, we could actually know what the users experienced and felt, and then refined our ideas and solutions to the problem.

3) What was difficult or challenging about body-storming?

There might be a mess when our group was acting or discussing.

When we were roleplaying, group members might be too excited and concentrated in acting and forgot to say “freeze” and even forgot this was only an experiment to help us think out ideas to refine our solutions.

Another difficult appeared when we were discussing. Everyone had their own opinions and would like to express first. As a result, there might be a mess in the discussing process.

4) Does body-storming lend itself to certain types of problems?

Yes, from my point of view, I think so. It depends on the situations.

Some situations that are ordinary and accessible to us, then we can imitate and think things out. But sometimes the situation might be too far away from our daily lives such as space life or complex business activities, then we may find no way to act them out. So I I agree that body-storming is applied to certain types of problems.
