1) Briefly reflect on the lessons learnt from each exercise:
After doing reflective listening, two of us get a better understanding of each role (listener and speaker).And for us, it is always easier to be a listener. Unlike the daily conversations, this time we focused more on listening and analyzing, thinking of appropriate questions to keep speaker talking in order to find more information.Moreover, as speaker, the topic we chose is “Image yourself in 20 years time”, we try to put things more specific, like telling a vivid story.
. Defamiliarisation of everyday reality:
Since these videos are related to our daily lives, it was not hard to cultivate empathy.By hearing and seeing, I can also relate other sense of feelings toward the videos.What I learned from this exercise is that I can try to combine multiple sense of feelings and survey from another perspective when analyzing something that we once experienced.
We had fun doing this exercise, exploring the familiar environment with our glasses wrapped.I got to feel surroundings by blurry colors and shapes, and it was not as comfortable as usual. Putting myself in the shoes of people with reduced visual capabilities is the most direct way to understand the difficulties in their lives and their feelings.
