1) Describe your experience of creating personas from different users’ perspectives gathered in the interview data. Was there enough commonality between the 4 people interviewed to form a coherent persona? Or did it make more sense to create a second different persona?
When we collected data from the group members, we found that almost everyone’s habit in daily life were different. So at the beginning of the tutorial, we could hardly draw to a common conclusion no matter from the perspective of continuum or multiple choice until some of us made a compromise.
As a result, from my point of view, there wasn’t enough commonality between a group with four members interviewed to form a coherent persona, not to mention create a second different persona. I think there has to be enough users’ information in a user profile that can actually help the designers know how to make a coherent persona.
2) Do you think your final persona(s) was successful in generating empathy with users? What would you change to make it better?
As I mentioned above, our group members could hardly draw to a conclusion when we represented behaviors. So I could not take our final persona as a successful attempt. But during the creating process, we learned how to collect data and make descriptions before we made a persona, that made great sense to me.
Next time we will collect more data to make enough preparation and take it more serious to represent behaviors. Hopefully we can find more commonality and make a successful persona.
