How did this exercise help you build your empathy with prospective users?

After reading through the interview transcript, this exercise had risen my attention to users’ comments on which factors are they satisfied with or had become their difficulties to achieve goals. It is also helpful to develop our skill to understand users’ needs and feedback by asking proper questions, which could promote the design process towards more user-centred. The ability of selecting and clustering information could be improved by this practice.

 

How did the clustering of information help you to understand user need?

Clustering could arrange a mass of information in a more organized way which shows more specific needs, frustrations of prospective users. The affinity diagram could show relations between different information more clear and straight.

 

What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?

Clustering from a mass of information and labelling them are always difficult because some notes overlap another in some extent which mean these notes would not be classified easily. Sometimes we arrange too many yellow notes under one blue note, so we have to separate them more specifically and it is really hard to find out a new title. We still need to figure out more method to classified notes.  And we need using users’ language to come up with the blue one which should more focus on users.
