How did this exercise help you build empathy with prospective users?
After reading the full interview with the prospective users, some useful information such as the background, the users’ interests and needs, the details and the issues can be extracted and analyzed effectively. To understand the voice of the prospective users better, it is necessary to use this affinity diagram to analyze the customer trends and optimize the design and the project.
How did the clustering of information help you to understand user needs?
Without the clustering of information, the amount of the information of the interview can be overwhelming. This problem can be solved by using the affinity diagram, improving the information consistency and showing the distinctive specialty. After several researchers read these related interviews, it is necessary to address the most serious problems repeated in the interviews mainly. In this way, the quality of the project or the product can be improved significantly. These projects and products can satisfy the demands of the users and facilitate the product competition in the markets.
What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?
1. The reading speed and the listening accuracy are the big challenges, I would try my best to improve reading and listening.
2.Analyzing and summarizing are also quite difficult. My summaries sometimes are cluttered and illogical which are hard to understand and use. This will affect the accurate product positioning and reasonable competitive strategy to a great extent. I would share parts of them with my group members and classmates to analyze and deal with the problems together.
