- How did this exercise help you build empathy with perspective users?
It can help me to analysis user’s personality, purpose and habits in a more structural way by highlighting user’s needs, frustrations, motivations, and interests, because interview is kinds of informal and unstructured way to collect data.
Then we wrote statements on yellow post-it notes and categorized these statement by using blue post-it notes, which can understanding users accurately and comprehensively, since we read different sections of interviews.
Same as blue one, we continue summed up our ideas by using pink post-it notes, which is more directly to understand user’s experiences.
- How did the clustering of information help you to understand user needs?
Clustering information is easier to find the similarities and differences of different users in different situations. So we can have a comprehensive understanding of our users.
- What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?
We have 4 people’s data, so sometime the information we collected is not relevant to others. Secondly, subtitling yellow post-it notes is difficult, in some circumstance data from us may be contrary. For example, I read interview about user’s honeymoon, and my group member read about business travel. The problem here is that user do a lot of work of pre-planning in honeymoon, but don’t like make plan in business travel.
Next time, I will find some more accurate information from interview and avoid some repeated information. And for some contrary information, we should cluster it based on different circumstance.
