1) How did this exercise help you build empathy with prospective users?

I used to think “understanding the customer’s need “is knowing the target clients, ages, income and habit. But according to this exercise, (reading the whole interview and pick up the statements of user interests, needs, motivations, frustrations.)I understand how to stand in the position of the customer and consider things from the customer’s perspective. In the other words, if you want design a good product, you need follow them with feelings; truly understand user’s experience.

2) How did the clustering of information help you to understand user needs?

The Affinity process is a good tool to get people to work on a creative level to address difficult issues and understand user needs. It may be used in situations that are unknown or unexplored by a team, or in circumstances that seem confusing or disorganized, such as when people with diverse experiences form a new team, or when members have incomplete knowledge of the area of analysis.

3) What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?

Hard to summarize information properly – when I reading the interview, sometimes I struggle with how to distinguish the effective information and invalid information.
Next time, I should understand what the topic is and then I can start reading. Don’t rush for quick results.
