1.How is this sketch-noting technique different to the traditional note taking?
The way that sketch-noting presenting the content is not limited to the use of words and sentences but also the use of graphical elements such as small figures and icons. The recorder combines the writing and drawing together to present the gathered information.
Despite the visual aspect of the content being presented, sketch-noting may structure the information differently compared to traditional note taking. In fact, sketch-noting can structure the content whatever way the recorder preferred, in order to best suit the needs of noting.
2.How does this visual approach facilitate communication of your ideas? Conversely, how does it prevent it?
The graphical elements in the note is able to visually create connections between my ideas, instead of writing dry paragraphs to explain everything in words. This visual approach present the relationship of the ideas more directly so that the I am always informed and understand how is everything being connected.
3.Personal challenges as a sketchnoter.
For me there are three challenges as a sketchnoter:
- Transform the words into graphical elements requires me to focus, while I still have to concentrate on listening.
- Poor sketching skill have impact on the quality of sketching, an inaccurate sketching would cause inaccurate presentation of information.
- I found it very time consuming, it is an issue since sometimes I have to be quick to note down information otherwise the note is incomplete..
