Q1.How did this exercise help you build empathy with prospective users?
-It makes me realize that interview and observation are good ways to build empathy with prospective users. Start conversations with daily questions, then try to find a deeper level of prospective user needs increasingly. (Some questions may need to be asked repeatedly in different ways for confirming significant information.) Habit, belief and tendency are some areas that can do deep empathy. Listening to users’ aspirations and observing users’ behaviors can better empathize.
Q2.How did the clustering of the information help you to understand user needs?
-Affinity Diagram helps better to understand user needs. Extracting some key words that we think are important from the conversations. Then reclassify these data by similar characteristics. So some issues are clear now. Finally, summarize these features can further know user needs. It is a good way to create new ideas.
Q3.What was difficult or challenging with the technique? How would you do it better next time?
-In the process of fetching information, I just wrote down some words that are difficult to be classified. (Some are just personal opinions of interviewee without deep reasons.) So next time, I will extract some more valuable data that deserve to be profoundly analyzed.
